Roll7, the developer behind the incredible OlliOlli, announced their new game titled Not a Hero.
Devolver Digital is publishing the title which will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam and on next-gen consoles. No specific launch date outside of an expected fall 2014 release window was given.
[adsense250itp]Not a Hero’s story sees BunnyLord, an anthropomorphic rabbit/mayoral candidate from the future, seeking someone to clean up the city during election time. Murderous loner Steve volunteers for the job and sets out to eliminate crime across the city’s five districts. Using sliding, diving, ducking and taking cover, Steve will also recruit other “heroes” to help him in his servitude for BunnyLord.
Like OlliOlli, Not a Hero features pixel art for its graphics. However, Not a Hero also takes advantage of “ISO-Slant” technology. Roll7 is using the tech to make the game one the greatest 2¼D cover-based shooters ever. Different heroes will have unique abilities such as bare-handed attacks or slicing up enemies quickly with a katana. During main missions, levels will create the opportunity for secondary goals. These will provide even more challenges by altering events in the level.
Roll7 has already proved they can execute an entertaining arcade-style skateboarding game on the PlayStation Vita. Now players will get to experience their take on cover-based shooters. Both the plot and graphics of Not a Hero are enough to grab the attention of anyone thirsting for something unique. The ridiculous hyperbole of the announcement and exaggeration of ISO-Slant only make the wait for gameplay harder.
