Nioh Last Chance Trial Out Tomorrow to Punish Players Before Launch

Nioh is set to launch on Feb. 7 for PlayStation 4 but Team Ninja is giving players one more chance to dive into the game’s grueling world with the Nioh Last Chance Trial launching on Jan. 21.
The Last Chance Trial is playable through Jan. 22 and offers players an extended version of the demo shown at the PlayStation Experience in December.
PS4 owners are already able to download the trial from the PlayStation Store as a pre-load. From there the demo is playable as soon as it activates. Last year Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo launched an open alpha and beta for Nioh in April and August, respectively. The period of time between the two releases allowed Team Ninja to take player feedback from the alpha and incorporate it into the beta. Even after the beta’s release, the team provided notes on what would be improved and worked on as the final product neared release.
Beating the main mission in the trial will get players the Ogress Headgear. Completing the Twilight mission rewards the Mark of the Conqueror and Mark of the Song from last year’s alpha and beta. To receive these rewards players must keep their save data from the Last Chance Trial and download DLC when prompted. The bonuses will be available in-game at shrines.
Nioh is a brutally difficult action RPG in the same vein as From Software’s Souls series. Inspired by Japanese history and samurai, the game is set in 16th century Japan as protagonist William faces off against supernatural monsters and equally imposing human warriors.
