Koei Tecmo Details Future Nioh DLC and Updates

Nioh

Koei Tecmo detailed upcoming DLC and updates that will be arriving to Nioh in the coming months.

In late March high-difficulty missions will be added to the game. There will be 10 types of missions where players can expect to encounter missions that feel like boss rushes. Since bosses are some of the most challenging aspects of Nioh, these missions will likely provide something new for players to overcome. Twilight Missions are already included in Nioh which amp up the difficulty of currently available missions by adding more yokai and high-level foes.

PvP will be implemented in late April. Nioh currently features online components that allow players to interact in different ways with each other online. Players can summon or join friends and strangers into their games to clear out levels and beat challenges together. Cooperation also extends to a small meta game where players can pledge allegiance to different factions that grant different passive bonuses. The winning side is granted with rewards.

Nioh lacks a PvP mode similar to Dark Souls and Bloodborne. In those games, players can invade each others’ games. In Nioh, players can interact with graves where other players died and fight an AI controlled representation of that character in hopes of getting some of their gear. Koei Tecmo has yet to reveal any other details about how PvP will function in Nioh.

“Dragon of Tohoku” is the first piece of DLC available for the game and will launch in late April. It adds new weapon types, new scenarios, new characters, new areas, new yokai, and new guardian spirits. The second DLC is “Japan’s Best Warrior” and the third will be titled “Peaceful and Tranquil.”

Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo revealed this information in a live stream for Nioh. At a later date the developer will reveal more information on the upcoming DLC content.
