New Releases: Week of 5/31

/ Jun 1st, 2014 No Comments

WildStar release date

As May fades into memory and June rises, it brings with it some new games. This week a slew of releases includes a ghost cop, a new MMO and an idol sim for the PS Vita. Also this week, Nintendo will release its highly anticipated, odd Japanese-style life sim.

Murdered: Soul Suspect – PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Murdered: Soul Suspect takes gamers to the eerie Salem, Mass. where they take on the role of hotshot detective Ronan O’Connor. Ronan is not long for this world as he is killed by a cruel and brutal murderer. Now, he must solve the biggest case of his career: his own murder. Death is not enough to stop this top ghost cop.

Murdered: Soul Suspect

Hey kid, did you hear? I’m solving my own murder!

Using possession and other ghostly powers to investigate his own death, Ronan has to catch his killer while avoiding ravenous demons bent on devouring his soul. How does this humdinger of a case play out? Gamers can become an ace ghost detective and solve the murder on June 3.

WildStar – PC

WildStar is the latest MMO from NCSOFT and the debut from Carbine Studios. Players can create an avatar from six unique classes and customize it with four paths. These warriors can stake their claim in Nexus as they fight for either The Dominion or The Exiles.

These two warring factions battle furiously over the lost alien technology hidden on Nexus. The Dominion claims the planet as their own, feeling the technology belongs to them. The Exiles are refugees hurt by The Dominion and band together to foil the other’s plans. Join the battle for Nexus when the stylized WildStar releases for PC on June 3.

Hyperdimension Neptunia PP – PS Vita

Hyperdimension Neptunia PP was released in Japan a year ago, and NIS America is finally bringing the odd side-story to America. While Hyperdimension Neptunia and its alternate reality sequels were JRPGs that dealt with the seventh console war, Hyperdimension Neptunia PP is a simulation game that takes place in a parallel world.

Hyperdimension Neptunia PP

Still not as weird as Persona 4 Dance Party.

In the game, players assume the role of a character hired by the CPUs to manage their idol career. As manager, players will get the CPUs into top idols to steal their influence back from popular idol group MOB-48. PS Vita owners can manager their own idol group when Hyperdimension Neptunia PP launches June 3.

Tomodachi Life – 3DS

Tomodachi means friend. This 3DS-exclusive allows players to create an island populated by Miis modeled after themselves, friends, celebrities, randos and Cake Boss (Cake Boss!). Miis can be imported from users’ 3DS, other Mii devices, QR Codes or created in game.

Tomodachi Life

Things are likely going to get weird in Tomodachi Life.

Each Mii can be given a unique voice and personality to best emulate their real world counterparts. The beauty of Tomodachi Life is watching the island fill up with Miis and how their distinct and unique personality mesh. What kind of odd drama and idiosyncrasies will occur when 3DS owners dig into the game starting June 6?
