Summah is already here even though it is March. So you might want to beat the heat with some new video games. Luckily the third week of March has some new releases that might pique your interest. This week sees the return of the Battlefield series with Battlefield Hardline, the Final Fantasy series returning with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, a new episodic jaunt in Tales from the Borderlands, and a game full of smaller games in Mario Party 10.

There is a drug war going on in Miami, no man (or woman) is safe from. Rookie detective, Nick Mendoza and his veteran partner, Khai Minh Dao are putting a hurting on the drug trade in Miami. The two detectives follow the drug supply chain from dealer to supplier. The case is more complex than they initially imagined. They start doing more off-the-books work to uncover how deep the drug trade goes, and how power and corruption in the drug game knows no boundaries.

Hardline marks a departure for the Battlefield series focusing on the modern criminal element than the military action the series is known for. There is a bigger story emphasis this time around for Battlefield with Hardline’s story told in an “episodic” format to ape current TV dramas. Despite the greater narrative importance, Hardline will retain the online gameplay fans expect, albeit with some new modes thrown in to match the new setting. Heist, Blood Money, Hotwire Mode, Rescue, and Crosshair are all new to the online repertoire among fan favorites.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD – PS4, Xbox One – March 17

When Militesi Empire attacks the Dominion of Rubrum, Class Zero, a group of elite students in Rubrum’s academy must act to protect their home. For more on Tales from the Borderlands, make sure to read our review of episode 1: “Zer0 Sum”. Our very own Greg Johnson had this to say on “Zer0 Sum” and the remaining episodes in the season, “The episodic nature of Telltale’s Borderlands game ensures players will be using their time wisely, and the decisions give it unique replay value. Whatever comes next in these Tales from the Borderlands, make sure to grab a seat aboard.”

Mario Party 10 – Wii U – March 20

It is back, the great scourge and menace of fun and friendships, Mario Party. In the first Wii U Mario Party, Bowser shows up uninvited to the mini-game fun. Players can play as Bowser with four other players controlling other characters. “Bowser Party” mini-games allow Bowser to cause a ruckus in the party by using the different aspects of the GamePad to force the other players to endure the mayhem. It is 4v1 chaos, where everyone takes on both a real and meta monster, take that Evolve!
