November is already half-way over, but we still got plenty of games to get excited for. This week is a lot of fun ports, but there are still some cool new games to dig into.
This week’s new releases include Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and Star Wars Battlefront II.
Also releasing this week is Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, Demon Gaze II, L.A. Noire, The Sims 4 for PS4 and Xbox One, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for VR and Switch, Batman: the Telltale Series, VVVVVV, Itle Dew 2+, Rime, and Rocket League for Switch.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon – 3DS – November 17
Dark clouds form above the usually clear and sunny sky above the Alola region. With the dark clouds, a new group, the Ultra Recon Squad shows up in Alola. The Ultra Recon Squad arrived from a world beyond an Ultra Wormhole, but what is their purpose and why did they bring new Ultra Beasts with them?
There is also the legendary Pokémon Necrozma stirring about, what does it have to do with the Ultra Wormholes and the dark clouds above Alola? What terrible power lies in its new forms, Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma?
It is up to you to investigate what lies beyond the Ultra Wormholes by riding atop the backs of legendary Pokémon Solgaelo and Lunala in their respective versions. By traveling through the wormholes, you’ll find the new location Ultra Megalopolis, a world where its light has been stolen by Necrozma.
The Ultra Wormholes also allow you to find all the legendary Pokémon from across the entire series. By traveling through them you can find Pokémon like Lugia, Mewtoo, and more. The legendries are split up between both versions, so exclusive ones reside only in Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Also certain legendary Pokémon will only appear if you have legendries from both versions in your party like Suicune and Rayquaza.
In addition to the new Ultra Recon Squad, a new villainous organization appears: Team Rainbow Rocket. The team is led by Giovanni, the villain behind Team Rocket from the first games in the series. It isn’t only Giovanni who is part of Team Rainbow Rocket; all the greatest boss villains from across the series have joined him. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, you’ll have to take on your greatest challenge yet.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon feature a good deal of changes from their vanilla counterparts. Not only have new story elements been introduced, but new Pokémon, new buildings, new forms, new characters and new features have as well.
Finding out what’s up with the Battle Agency, collecting Totem Stickers, surfing with Mantine, new z-moves, and a powered-up Rotom Dex will be half the fun of exploring Alola again in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Star Wars Battlefront II – PS4, Xbox One, PC – November 17
After the Battle of Endor, which sees the destruction of the second Death Star, the Empire was delivered a heavy blow. They weren’t finished though. Shook and stunned by the acts of the rebels, the elite Inferno Squad goes on a quest to restore the Empire’s order by venturing across the galaxy to stop the Rebellion.
Led by Commander Iden Versio, the Inferno Squad goes where needed to use their specialized skills to stop out the Rebels. The Inferno Squad is talented at subterfuge and brute force allowing them to do damage and then escape without notice proving to be a powerful wetwork force. Iden and her squad are the best chance the Empire has to regain order in their final desperate hour.
Taking place between the end of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the single-player campaign of Star Wars Battlfront II lets you experience an original story bridging the gap between the first and third trilogy. Unlike Battlefront, Battlefront II gives players a little more to chew on besides a massive multiplayer experience.
The multiplayer experience features five game modes including the massive 40 player battle in Galactic Assault. However, it also has smaller, less chaotic modes like Strike allowing two teams of eight players to compete over objective-based scenarios, or Blast, a fast paced close quarters combat mode.
Four character classes make up the multiplayer experience. The different classes are officer, a buff class, specialist, a trap class, and assault and heavy classes. Each class has their own advantages on the battlefield and the different classes can suit multiple playstyles.
Vehicles are a huge part of the Star Wars universe, Battlefront II gives players access to a ton of vehicles from AT-RT’s to X-Wings to hero ships like Boba Fett’s Slave 1, and more. The multiplayer mode, Starfighter Assault allows players to take flight and battle it out in multi-stage objective based battles using a wide variety of vehicles.
Equally as important as the vehicles of the Star Wars universe are the iconic heroes and villains. In Battlefront II, you can play as heroes from across all three trilogies. In the Heroes vs. Villains modes, battle it out as your favorite heroes or villains in four-on-four team battles.
Star Wars Battlefront II features 11 maps allowing you to fight on locations from across all the films in the current cinematic canon including Tatooine, Naboo, Hoth, and more.
