New Halo Game Coming to Xbox One in 2014

new Halo game

A new Halo game for Xbox One will be released in 2014, a series of tweets by a Microsoft public relations employee confirmed.

Rob Semsey, the senior PR manager for the Halo and Forza franchises, took to Twitter to state there will be a new Halo adventure arriving in 2014. Semsey was responding to a post on the official Xbox newswire, which did not list Halo when mentioning some of 2014′s most anticipated Xbox One titles.

“Xbox Wire today mentioned a few 2014 titles; Halo on Xbox One not listed due to official name of the next title not announced yet,” Semsey said in a tweet.

The post on the Xbox newswire was meant to thank Xbox fans for an “epic” 2013 but also mentioned Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, The Division, The Elder Scrolls Online, Destiny, The Witcher 3 and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare as “great games” coming to Xbox One in 2014.

“Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014,” Semsey said in a follow-up tweet.

A new Halo title was hinted at during Microsoft’s presentation at E3 2013. However, no new Halo has been officially announced. Microsoft is also working with Steven Spielberg on a live-action Halo series exclusively for Xbox owners.

Our Take:

A new Halo game for Xbox One was inevitable. In fact, it’s a wonder that a Halo title did not launch alongside the Xbox One in November. The new Halo technically has not been announced so it will not likely release for several months.

With the hype already starting, there’s a pretty good chance this won’t be another Halo: Spartan Assault. Although the title has not been revealed, the safe money is on Halo 5.
