New GTA 5 Artwork Unveiled by Rockstar

GTA 5 Artwork

Rockstar released new artwork for Grand Theft Auto 5 on the official company blog.

Trevor Phillips, one of the game’s three main protagonists, is the subject of the new image. Phillips is seen aboard a parked ATV with the desert area of GTA 5 in the background. He is carrying a sniper rifle in his hands.

Rockstar also included a description along with the image. The developer describes Phillips as an “unhinged, unpredictable, psychopathic career criminal and drug addict.”

The artwork, along with the newest trailer for the game released last month, could offer subtle hints on what to expect from the latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. When the first details of the game emerged last month with info that there would be three playable characters, gamers learned that they would need to control all three to pull off elaborate heists that comprise the game’s biggest missions. The new image showing Phillips holding a sniper rifle suggests he could be the man on the rooftops shooting from afar during those heists.

A reoccurring theme for Phillips is the desert. In addition to the new image, most of his scenes in the latest trailer took place in the more open spaces of Los Santos. It is safe to assume that players will be exploring the desert and mountain ranges of Rockstar’s largest environment ever while playing as Phillips. That also means some of the more extreme mini-games from GTA 5, such as off-road racing on ATVs and base jumping, could be Trevor’s hobbies, which would align with his unpredictable personality.

The new artwork can be downloaded from the Rockstar website as a digital desktop, social media background, avatar or icon.

GTA 5 is set for a release in Spring next year. More images and information from GTA 5 are expected to be released gradually as the pre-release hype has officially begun.

I swear I saw this artwork months ago, before the game informer issue. Does anyone else remember seeing this, or am I just some sort of crazy fortune teller.
