New Game Releases: September 2nd – 8th

This upcoming week’s video game releases include The Sims 3: Supernatural expansion pack (PC), Dogfight 1942 (XBLA/PSN/PC), Port Royale 3 (Xbox 360/PS3/PC), Closure (PC), and Zen Pinball 2 (PS3/PS Vita).

The Sims 3: Supernatural – PC

A new expansion for the Sims 3 is taking the game for a much more fantastical turn.  Mastermind a vampire, fairy, witch or any number of other unusual creatures in the Sims creator tool while being able to retain a fair level of customization.  Each creature has its own access to spells and transformations, as well as an array of elixirs that can do anything from change a Sim into a zombie or transform them into gold.  Supernatural also offers the new town of Moonlight Falls, and an expanded gothic-themed furniture set.  The Sims 3: Supernatural is scheduled for release on PC on September 4^th.

Dogfight 1942 – XBLA/PSN/PC

Dive straight into the intense aerial battles of World War II with historically accurate planes and an arsenal of pain.  Dogfight 1942 offers a handful of gameplay modes, which include: dogfight mode (go head to head against a friend in a competition to see who is the better pilot), survival mode (head against waves of enemies and see how long you can last), and a co-op mode which offers missions to help take down the Axis alliance.  Dogfight 1942 is scheduled for release on the Xbox Live Arcade on September 5^th, as well as releases on the Playstation Network and PC at a later date.

Port Royale 3 – Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Travel back in time to the Caribbean of the 17^th century, during a time when Spain, France, England and the Netherlands are going head to head over the colonies and the wealth they possess.  Assume the role of either an adventurer or trader in a bid to expand wealth via barter or less legitimate means.  Participate in naval battles as well as plunder, but be wary of others should you choose to play on multiplayer.  Port Royale 3 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on September 4^th.

Closure – PC

Award-winning platformer Closure will be making a presence on PC later on this week.  While much in the same vein as Limbo (black and white with an air of something not being quite right), in Closure, what you see is all that exists.  Use lights to help solve puzzles as well as explore the story of three humans that becomes ever stranger as it unfolds.  Closure is scheduled for release on PC on September 7^th.

Zen Pinball 2 – PS3/PS Vita

Fans of the old arcade-style pinball games might do well to check on Zen Pinball 2.  Offering updated graphics as well as more fast-paced and engaging gameplay, Zen Pinball 2 also takes the player down into the game with a 3D display mode.  There will be a number of pinball tables available that offer a variety of different kinds of challenges as well as the opportunity to go head to head against your friends.  Zen Pinball 2 is scheduled for release on Playstation 3 as well as the Vita on September 4^th.
