When it comes to game releases, this week promises to be a big one with Borderlands 2 (PS3/Xbox 360/PC), Torchlight II (PC), F1 2012 (PS3/Xbox 360/PC), Jet Set Radio (PS3/Xbox 360/PC/Vita), and The Street Fighter: 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set (PS3/Xbox 360).
Borderlands 2 – PS3/Xbox 360/PCSequel to the award-winning Borderlands, Borderlands 2 takes the player back to Pandora. If you haven’t read it yet, be sure to read our Official Borderlands 2 Preview.
Thrown into a gladiatorial arena to fight to the death for Handsome Jack’s amusement, the player soon finds themselves bereft of their reward and left for dead out in the desert. But word is soon received that Handsome Jack must die, and that the player will need the aid of the four original vault hunters to bring him down. Promising a whole gamut of new characters, skills, guns, and split-screen co-op, Borderlands 2 looks to be a worthwhile venture into the as-yet-uncovered areas of Pandora. Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on September 18th.
Torchlight II – PC
Secrets come to light, and the fabric of reality itself is threatened in this action-packed adventure that pushes the player into the dark places of the world. Play with friends over LAN or online, create customizable characters that are one of four classes, augment your game with mods, with the option of adventuring in randomly generated dungeons and retire characters that are of high enough level to help benefit newer characters just starting out. How you delve into the world of Torchlight II is entirely up to you. Torchlight II is scheduled for release on PC on September 20th.
F1 2012 – PS3/Xbox 360/PC
The latest installment in the popular racing game series hits shelves later on this week. Manned with the six champions from 2012 FIA Formula One World Championship, players have the option to get a firm grasp on driving some of the most fast and furious cars on the planet in the Young Driver Test. Also offering a number of dynamic challenges, such as storms that move through areas which will affect the road, 16 player multi-player, season challenge and a number of other ways to test your skills, F1 2012 will deal out the toughest challenges. F1 2012 is scheduled for release on Playsation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on September 18th.
Jet Set Radio – PSN/XBLA/PC/Vita
Fans of the original Dreamcast game will be happy to hear that the much loved classic will be arriving on the Playstation Network, as well as Xbox Live, PC, and later for the Vita. Rebel against the oppression of the authorities with smooth skate style, graffiti art, and protect your turf by keeping other kids away from your neighborhood. Jet Set Radio offers the exploration of two cities, awesome stunts and customization options. Jet Set Radio is scheduled for release on the Playstation Network on September 18th, Xbox Live and PC on September 19th, with a date set for the Vita on October 16th.
The Street Fighter: 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set – PS3/Xbox 360
An all-in-one collector’s edition of The Street Fighter games comes out later on this week, which includes: an eleven-disc soundtrack, Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter X Tekken, along with all costume DLC for Street Fighter IV, as well as the character and swap costume DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken. Fans will also be able to delve into a documentary about the franchise, as well as the anime films, episodes of the TV show, and an art book paired with a light up statue of Ryu. The Street Fighter: 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set is scheduled for release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 18th.
