New Game Releases: August 26 – September 1

This week’s video game releases include a dash of something new and a bit of a stroll down memory lane. For the bit of new, Guild Wars 2 is coming out on PC, while nostalgia will hit hard with the Ratchet & Clank Collection coming out on Playstation 3. And for those who enjoyed Journey, the Journey Collector’s Edition will be released on Playstation 3. Of course, there’s the “big one” for sports fans…

Madden 13

NFL Football is back for console gamers in Madden 13, which has already been reviewed. In our Madden 13 Review we discuss the new Infinity Engine for realistic physics as well as new game mode known as Connected Career. Guild Wars 2 – PC

Fans of Guild Wars will undoubtedly already be aware of the sequel to the award-winning MMO which will be hitting the Internet fairly soon.

If you haven’t read them already we have some exclusive hands-on previews of Guild Wars 2. For those not in the know, Guild Wars 2 takes place in the war-torn land of Tyria, where five races have been in a near-constant battle to tip the scales of fortune in their favor. But when the ancient dragons awaken, everything changes. Players looking for a more involved combat experience will find just that with Guild Wars 2: the player must dodge, aim and time their attacks appropriately to be effective. Guild Wars 2 is scheduled for release on PC August 28^th.

Journey Collector’s Edition – PS3

Journey Collector’s Edition will be bringing three of thatgamecompany’s games to one disc: Journey, flOw, and Flower. Journey gives players the freedom to explore a whole land and discover its mysterious history either alone or with someone they might happen to come across while they play online. Be sure to check out our Journey Review, which received one of the few Editor’s Choice Awards in 2012 from our site.

flOw explores the theory of evolution by letting the player control a creature in a comprehensive environment. Eat others, die, evolve. It’s all part of the process. And finally, Flower: control the direction of the wind and a small cluster of petals. The environment changes as the player continues along each of the levels while accumulating more petals. Journey Collector’s Edition is scheduled for release for Playstation 3 on August 28^th.

Ratchet & Clank Collection – PS3

Rejoin old adventures with Ratchet and Clank in the comprehensive collection of the original games. The collection features: Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Award hunters will be happy to hear that the game has been both remastered and upgraded to include that ever sought after achievement system. Ratchet is a Lombax with a penchant for wrenches and a robot sidekick named Clank. Their adventures range from a mission to save the galaxy to fighting for galactic peace, along with meeting a number of unusual characters along the way. The Ratchet & Clank Collection is scheduled for release on Playstation 3 on August 28^th.
