Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

As we do every Sunday afternoon, we give a preview of the top new video games hitting the store shelves and virtual marketplaces for this coming week. Luckily we have a few really solid titles coming out this week for all different platforms. This week’s releases include Counter Strike: Global Offensive (Xbox 360/PS3/PC), Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (Xbox 360/PS3/PC), War of the Samurai 4 (PS3), and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (PC).

Counter Strike: Global Offensive – Xbox 360/PS3/PC

Both fans of the original Counter Strike and newcomers to the game have something to look forward to this coming week: Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Acting as a revamp of the original game rather than a sequel, FPS veterans may find a new and refreshing challenge with Counter Strike’s lack of regenerating health and no respawns. Many of the classic maps will be making a return in this updated version of the game, but with a few necessary tweaks. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC on August 21^st.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron – Xbox 360/PS3/PC

The long-awaited second installment of the Transformers games dives face first into the late days of the civil war between the Decepticons and the Autobots. This conflict will leave both parties without a home, as they must flee in exile from their dying world. Promising a comprehensive level of customization as well as hard-hitting online matches against other players, Fall of Cyberton raises the stakes to whole new heights for the franchise. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC on August 21^st.

Way of the Samurai 4 – PS3

Take up the role of Ronin, a samurai without a master, in a tumultuous time in Japan’s history: the introduction of British influence. Offering a storyline that adapts to the player’s choices, Way of the Samurai 4 will offer a customization system as well as three factions that the player can choose to align themselves with. Way of the Samurai 4 is scheduled for release on Playstation 3 on August 21^st.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition – PC

Dark Souls is coming packed with whole worlds of new content, challenge, and mystery. Players will be able to explore a dark fantasy world rife with nightmarish creatures and challenging combat that promises high rewards should the player overcome its obstacles. Offering a natural and nonrestrictive path of character development, players will also have the opportunity to participate in duels to the death with other gamers. Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is scheduled for release on PC on August 24^th.
