NCAA 2K17 is the College Hoops Game That Can’t Exist

College sports video games are dead, and they are not likely to be revived any time soon. A recent Supreme Court ruling in the Ed O’Bannon case means that publishers will not want to touch the NCAA license. However, you can now play an NCAA college hoops game thanks to one NBA 2K17 player.
YouTuber Da InFaMous NY has recreated 36 of the top college basketball teams in NBA 2K17, complete with players, uniforms and courts. Players who download the roster can use it for one season in the game’s MyLeague mode.
A trailer for the downloadable assets can be viewed below.
Da InFaMous NY also uploaded a video explaining how to set up “NCAA 2K17” so that you can play through a season in MyLeague. Setup involves downloading the roster, then creating a custom league. Search for “infamous-ny-” to preload the NCAA 2K17 custom league.
The downloads are only for the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K17.
Player attributes and appearances are completely customizable, so you can do a little tweaking to players as the college basketball season moves forward.
NBA 2K17 includes 10 college basketball teams, but does not have current rosters for those teams. During the game’s career mode, NCAA teams are filled with randomly generated players. 2K also released a DLC pack that features all-time rosters for the 10 official college teams in the game, but those consist of current and former NBA players.
If you’ve been longing for a college hoops video game to come back, the NCAA 2K17 custom roster is as close as you can get.
