The trailer was set up to give players a glimpse at how the best-selling basketball sim will look on next-gen consoles.
LeBron James and his video game counterpart Video Game James were featured in the trailer. The Miami Heat star was previously named the cover athlete for NBA 2K14. In the trailer, the two versions of LeBron James converse over who has the better moves until Video Game James shows off some impressive in-game highlights.
Footage used in creating the trailer was not pre-rendered but was only from a pre-alpha version of the game for PlayStation 4. The trailer shows off realistic animations, improved player facial mapping and interesting crowd graphics.
The trailer is set to a track by rapper Jay-Z, who served as an executive producer for NBA 2K13.
In addition to appearing on the cover of NBA 2K14, LeBron James will be featured in the Path to Greatness mode. Details on the game mode have yet to be revealed.
NBA 2K14 will release Oct. 1 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Xbox One and PS4 version is expected to be available alongside the launch of each console. 2K Sports is not planning to release NBA 2K14 for Wii U.
Players who pre-order the game will receive the King James Bonus Pack DLC at no additional charge. The King James Bonus Pack DLC includes bonus content for the Path to Greatness mode, an instant unlock of LeBron James for use in the game’s Blacktop mode, a LeBron James signature skill to equip with a created player in MyPlayer mode and 10,000 virtual currency for use in game. The DLC will be available to download immediately at the game’s launch.
