NASCAR 14 Announced by Deep Silver

NASCAR 14

[adsense250itp]NASCAR 14 is set to release in early 2014 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, publisher Deep Silver announced.

Eutechnyx is handling development on the racing sim. While Deep Silver is new to the NASCAR franchise, Eutechnyx has been in charge of developing the racing sim since NASCAR The Game: 2011. The studio also has worked on several racing titles over the last two decades. Activision published the most recent NASCAR games.

The game features online multiplayer for up to 16 players. Gamers can participate in tournaments or create online leagues with dynamic stats and challenges.

NASCAR 14 also features a NASCAR Highlights mode in which players recreate important moments from the real NASCAR season. The mode is complete with exact car conditions, weather and track positions. Gamers can also work their way up the driving ranks in Career mode. Racers can build custom cars and earn sponsorships.

Deep Silver and Walmart are presenting a “Drive for the Cover” contest to determine who will appear on the cover of the game. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is encouraging racing fans to participate in the cover contest at driveforthecover.com. Drivers will be eliminated each week leading up to NASCAR Champion’s week in December, when a winner will be announced.

No official release date for NASCAR 14 has been announced. The racing sim will be priced at $49.99 and will be rated E.

Our Take:

Deep Silver taking over the NASCAR video game franchise can only be good for fans of the sport. Last year’s NASCAR title was only available on PC and was mostly a minor update from the previous year’s NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. This year, a NASCAR game will be much more accessible for racing fans. It is a long way from the EA Sports NASCAR titles of the past but at least the popular sport has a home on consoles.
