Mushkin announced the 480GB Atlas mSATA internal solid state drive is now available in the U.S.

The solid state drive is currently available for purchase in the U.S. on Newegg.com for $449.99 (suggested retail price is $499.99).

Mushkin, an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance and mission-critical computer products, is expected to make the solid state drive available worldwide by the end of January.

Specifications for the 480GB Atlas mSATA solid state drive include a SandForce SF-2281 SSD processor with unthrottled IOPS, a SATA III (6Gb/s) interface, support for ATA APM, Security Set and NCQ, TRIM support (OS/driver support required), S.M.A.R.T. support, built-in BCH ECC (up to 55 bits correctable per 512 byte sector), high speed MLC NAND, MO-300 (mSATA) form factor (50.80 x 29.85 x 4.85mm), a mini PCIe interface, RoHS, FCC and CE.

The internal drive features user-upgradeable firmware and is aimed at consumers who want a high performance drive.

As is the case with most Mushkin products, the 480GB Atlas mSATA SSD is protected with a three-year limited warranty.

Mushkin has been busy introducing new product lines lately. The company announced enterprise class ProSpec Series SSDs last week. Mushkin also unveiled new Stealth memory modules along with a partnership with Meteor Entertainment for the release of HAWKEN.
