The MSI Z77A-GD80 motherboard debuted today, marking a revolutionary step for PC motherboard technology. MSI first showed this generation of motherboards at Consumers Electronics Show in January 2012 and received global media coverage for being the first motherboard to support Thunderbolt technology. The Thunderbolt transfer interface, partnered with the latest technology built inside such as USB 3.0 should make the Z77A-GD80 one of this most desired mainboards on the market.

MSI’s commitment to their product having stability and durability continues on as they have manufactured the Z77A-GD80 with military class components. The Z77A-GD80 also includes highly-conductive polymerized capacitors, Super Ferrite Choke, and Solid Capacitors which are all high class components appreciated by any gamer wanting a new motherboard. It even comes with the next generation of Drmos, the DrMOS-II, which is going to give it fully automatic dual thermal protection, even if the temperature reaches 115C. The motherboard will warn its user at that level and at 130C the mainboard will shut itself off. To insure quality, the mainboard was test at seven different labs undergoing different difficultly testes, which is how it was given a military Class III label. Regardless of the military class rating, the performance increase and usage experience has been ramped up too.

MSI has purportedly wanted to upgrade all aspects of this motherboard, so they add their exclusive OC Genie II technology which only takes one second to go from standard usage of a computer to an impressive performance increase. This technology releases the power of the CPU, iGPU and memory performance all at once to insure the Z77A-GD80 is going to stay around when people want the 27nm processors. MSI has made this motherboard compatible with both PCI Express Gen 3 and 27nm processors. This is going to give the users the ability to upgrade yet keep their mainboard knowing it going to be blazing fast.

One of the most impressive aspects of this mainboard is going to be the world’s fastest external transfer technology which has been included, the Thunderbolt transfer system. Being the first manufacturer to incorporate the Thunderbolt into their motherboard, MSI is going to offer the user much quicker than standard USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394. Thunderbolt is going to offer users an impressive Dual-channel 10Gbps per port transfer rate. In other words, you are going to be able to use one cable to use your high resolution monitors, large capacity external storage devices, even an 8-channel audio signal. This is all achievable because the Thunderbolt technology in the Z77A-GD80 has two-way independent bandwidth which allows the user to send and receive files simultaneous. You are even going to power your devices quicker with the Thunderbolt technology.

With the Z77A-GD80 having so much going for it to like, from military class 3  components, unsurpassed stability and durability, impressive performance capabilities, and the Thunderbolt technology, it looks like this might be one motherboard to really keep an eye out for if you are planning an upgrade.
