Mother Russia Bleeds is a Stylish Brawler to Watch

Mother Russia Bleeds

Mother Russia Bleeds, an upcoming brawler developed by French Studio Le Cartel, is planned for a 2015 release on PC, Mac and Linux.

The game is set in an alternate version of 1980s USSR. Players take control of Sergei, an antihero with a drug addiction who recently broke out of prison. Sergei will paint the collapsing Soviet Union red with violence in his quest for vengeance. The game will support up to four players with other controllable characters acting as Sergei’s fellow escaped convicts.

Le Cartel unveiled a new trailer for Mother Russia Bleeds which consists of pre-alpha footage. Pixel art graphics give atmosphere and violence to a seedy night club full of bouncers and strippers. Inspired by games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight, the team at Le Cartel is designing the game to evoke the memories and feelings of old school beat ‘em ups and brawlers. Players will have guns, melee weapons and a large roster of moves to fight enemies with.

Mother Russia Bleeds has a possibility to come to consoles, the success of which depends on an upcoming crowdfunding campaign by Le Cartel. For more on the game, be sure to check out the teaser below.

Quick Take

Anyone who watches the teaser for Mother Russia Bleeds will likely compare the game’s extreme violence, atmosphere, people with animal masks and art style to Hotline Miami. There are definitely similarities between the two but this stylish take on a brawler doesn’t mean it will be derivative. Classic brawlers aren’t often tackled by developers and Le Cartel has created an attention-grabbing teaser that leaves gamers wanting more.
