[adsense250itp]Sony revealed the first details of the next-gen version of MLB 14 The Show on a post by Sports Product Marketing Manager Tyler Vaught on the official PlayStation Blog.
The cover art for the game will feature Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera. Last year, fans decided the cover athlete. This year, Sony conducted a vote of MLB players to determine who would star on the game’s box art. The winner was announced during the 2013 Player’s Choice Awards on the MLB Network.
Some features for MLB 14 The Show were posted on the blog. Starting with MLB 14 The Show, gamers will be able to carry their saves over to each new version of the game. Rather than starting fresh every year, players will be able to continue their Seasons, Franchises and Road to the Show careers in each year’s installment of the series.
MLB 14 The Show also features a new Quick Counts option which automatically generates pitch counts. The game will simulate pitches so gamers do not have to sit through every pitch, reducing the amount of time spent in a game to just 30 minutes without compromising nine innings.
Developer San Diego Studios is working on a new advancement system, an enhanced player creation process and a pre-draft prospect showcase for the game’s Road to the Show mode. The baseball sim will be compatible with the PlayStation 4’s “Share” feature.
Of course, the next-gen title will also be complete with improved graphics and player models. While previous installments of the franchise featured 42 unique crowd models, MLB 14 The Show on PlayStation 4 will include more than 1,000 different crowd models.
Sony debuted a teaser trailer to go along with the first details of the game. The teaser features members of the San Diego Studios team discussing the development of MLB 14 The Show and screenshots comparing the current and next-gen version of the game. The trailer can be viewed below.
