[adsense250itp] MLB 14 The Show developer San Diego Studios posted a dev blog explaining the upcoming game’s new Online Franchise mode.
For the first time in franchise history, MLB 14 The Show will merge elements of the solo Franchise mode with Online Leauges to create a fully customizable online franchises.
Players will take on the role of Commissioner, setting up divisons, schedules, rosters and other options. The league can be filled with a mix of users who are invited and computer-controlled teams.
In Online Franchise, players must perform all day-to-day tasks, including scouting, drafting and controlling an entire minor league roster. During the offseason, users will go through GM duties by settling arbiration cases and signing players to contracts.
Trade and player logic has been improved to create more realistic transactions. Lopsided trades will no longer occur and free agents will factor in MLB service time, age and interest when determining their market value.
Bidding for free agents will take place in rounds that give every franchise owner a chance to make an offer. Free agents either choose their favorite offer and sign or remain on the market for the next round and accept more bids.
Online Franchise will also include record keeping, which will save career stats, draft classes, retired players and additional stats and details.
MLB 14 The Show is set to release April 1 for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. A version for PS4 is expected to launch in May.
