Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Update 7 Available Today

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is set to receive a huge update today with Title Update 7.

Developer 4J Studios released details on the update. Many of the features from the 1.0.1 update for the Java version of Minecraft are included in Title Update 7, with the exception of The End content. Title Update 8 will feature that additional content.

Title Update 7 for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition includes new items and enemies, animal breeding, experience points and enchanting. The new content make Minecraft a more RPG-like experience.

The new content includes animal breeding. When two of the same animals are fed a particular food, they will “kiss” and a baby animal will appear. Players will be able to brew potions. Just pull up a Brewing Stand to begin experimenting. Now, gamers can collect Experience Orbs from mining, killing mobs, breeding, and using Furnaces. Experience earned can then be used for Enchanting. Enchanting is a new process which uses XP to grant special abilities to armor, tools and weapons. Before getting started, players will need to craft an Enchantment table.

Mushroom Biome is a new type of land where the mushroom is king. New block Mycelium can be found in the Mushroom Biome. Nether Fortresses, the Nether equivalent of Strongholds, are structures that appear in the Nether. The Nether Fortresses bring new blocks to Minecraft.

Some skins will have new optional animations available to give them more life and personality. New animations are being experimented by 4J Studios and are expected to be expanded with future updates. Skins can now have hats and additional accessories as well.

In addition, a ton of new items, mobs and features will be added to the game. Aside from Title Update 7, the Festive Skin Pack will be available for 80 Microsoft Points. The Festive Skin Pack includes Santa and Gingerbread Man skins in order to get gamers in the holiday spirit.

The Minecraft documentary from 2 Player Productions is set to debut on Xbox Live at 8 p.m. EST on Xbox Live. Minecraft: The Story of Mojang tells the story of Minecraft creator Notch and his rise to fame through the massively popular game.
