Capcom, one of the leading developers and publishers in the video game industry has announced Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins.

Marvel Vs Capcom Origins is set to release September 2012 on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 and for the PlayStation Network for the PS3. This title is going to be a compilation of two of the most popular titles from the 90′s which is going to combine Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom Clash of Super Heroes. Both of these games are often credited with the birth of the team fighting games, which started a craze of fighting games which have changed the gaming scene forever. Marvel vs Capcom is going to offer both one-on-one gameplay of Marvel Super Heroes, leveraging the unique Infinity Gem system, but also offer a two-on-two fighting system. This system was first introduced in Marvel Vs Capcom Clash of Super Heroes, which gives players the ability to use a tag system, assists and insane Duo Team special attacks.

Marvel Vs. Capcom will also bring its own features into the game which have not been seen before in the fighting genre. The game will purportedly feature GGPO-enhanced online play with 8-player lobbies and spectator mode, HD graphical upgrades, dynamic challenges, and replay saving. The quick buzz around gaming sites and forums was that Marvel Vs Capcom is looking to be a must download game coming this September for fighting genre fans. But with this being a launch in September, many gamers are also to start to wonder if the game might not get lost in the shuffle for what looks like a steller fall lineup of AAA and indie games alike. Given that all the blockbuster titles are going to be coming out starting in the same September timeframe, we will just have to see this September when it comes out if it continues to generate buzz or get lost in a sea of titles coming out simultaneously.

Marvel vs Capcom Origins is slated to be released exclusively online, already priced at the reasonable cost of 1200 Microsoft points on Xbox Live or $14.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Stay tuned to Gaming Illustrated for our review in September.
