Marvel Heroes Game Update 2.31 Released

Marvel Heroes saw Game Update v2.31 release on Monday, bringing a few new features and a new Closed Beta sign-up announcement. Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play (F2P) game that features dozens of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains, including Wolverine, The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Captain America. All of the content and playable heroes in the game can be unlocked by playing the game, cost-free. The game also has costumes for characters dating back from the entire 70+ years of Marvel Comics history, including recent blockbusters in movie theaters. Marvel Heroes is an MMO that comes from the mind of David Brevik, who gained industry fame for his work on Diablo and Diablo 2.

Update Details

The first update is the new Moon Knight. The Moon Knight serves as the Egyptian Moon God Khonshu’s knight of vengeance. He wields a “vast arsenal of weaponry and lunar-powered abilities” and is playable now, ready to help players defeat various nefarious villains in the game. The Moon Knight marks as the 30th playable hero added to the Marvel Heroes game.

A seasonal celebration is also included with this update in the form of a Mardi Gras Celebration. This feature will only be available for a limited time, which will have enemies dropping Mardi Gras themed items such as carnival masks and beads. These items can be sold for decent sums of currency, or donated to level crafters. All players will get a boost to rare item find, special item find, and experience gain. There are also limited-edition Mardi Gras Fortune cards given out daily to players.

Three ultra-rare items are returning to the in-game store only for the duration of Mardi Gras. The Punisher Franken-Castle, Wolverine Brood and Headpool can now be purchased, until the Mardi Gras celebration concludes.

Finally, the last major update stated that Mac gamers are now able to sign up for a Mac Closed Beta Test. Players on OS X machines will be selected to join the beta test throughout the development process, as Marvel Heroes quickly approaches their official Mac launch “this spring” according to the press release. Eventually, the Mac software client will be in open beta.
