Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth Character Lineup Revealed

Ubisoft announced the full character roster for the upcoming brawler Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth in a press release today.

The roster consists of 20 superheroes and supervillains from the Marvel Universe who will appear in the game, including Captain America and Iron Man. Each character possesses four unique superpowers.

The full lineup of characters is:

Hawkeye
Human Torch
Iceman
Iron Man
Loki
Magneto
Phoenix
Queen Veranke
Scarlet Witch
Spider Man
Storm
Super Skrull
The Hulk
Thor

The company also released key art created by Marvel Comics artist Stefano Caselli.

Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is a superhero brawler set in authentic comic book art environments. The game is based on the famous Secret Invasion storyline. The Skrulls have landed on Earth and must be defeated to save the planet. In order to defend Earth from the invasion, players must embody their favorite super heroes.

A variety of gameplay modes are featured in the game, including a single player campaign, co-op, arcade, challenges, versus and tournament. Players will be able to unlock alternate outfits and collector cards by winning battles.

Advanced fighting techniques used to defeat opponents include Super Attacks, Velocity Boosts, Breaker and Frenzy.

Originally, the game was being developed by THQ. It was planned as a first-person shooter/brawler to be released concurrently with the 2012 film The Avengers. Upon the cancellation of the video game tie-in, it was picked up by Ubisoft and developed into a different game.

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is set to release on Oct. 30 for Xbox 360 with a version for the Wii U expected during this holiday season. The game has features which require the use of the Kinect for Xbox 360.
