The highlight of the Collector’s Edition are two 180 gram vinyl pressings containing music from the game. The first is the Mafia 3: Official Soundtrack of New Bordeaux which is a sampling of licensed 60’s music that can be heard in the game. 2K says the game will feature more than 100 songs for the in-game soundtrack but this vinyl contains 11 tracks including “Paint It, Black” by The Rolling Stones, “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix, and “The House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. The second vinyl features the game’s original score composed by Jesse Harlin and Jim Bonney.

Mafia 3 fans also get two exclusive collectible art prints, the 56-page Art of Mafia 3 collectible art book, Lincoln Clay replica dog tags, and faux leather establishment drink coasters that represent locations found in the game. Players who buy the collector’s edition will also get the game’s season pass which includes post-release downloadable content.

Mafia 3 will release on Oct. 7 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Quick Take

As far as collector’s editions go, the Mafia 3 collector’s edition is packed with a lot of unique physical content. Game soundtracks are rarely given physical releases – let alone vinyl ones – outside of certain indie games, and Mafia 3 is capturing the sounds from an era hardly touched on in gaming. Depending on how expensive and worthwhile the season pass is, this edition might turn out to be quite a good value.
