Lumenox Games Releases New Aaru’s Awakening Trailer

/ Feb 3rd, 2014 No Comments

Aaru's Awakening

Lumenox Games released a new trailer for the upcoming game Aaru’s Awakening. The trailer shows off the Night Domain of Aaru’s Awakening.

In the trailer, viewers get a glimpse into the Night Domain of the game. The Night Domain utilizes a darker palette than the previously seen areas of Aaru’s Awakening (day and dusk), favoring shades of blues and purples. Aaru’s fiery appearance provides a beautiful contrast to the darker hues of the Night Domain. Besides highlighting the visual style of the Night Domain, the trailer effectively demonstrates the game’s unique platforming mechanic. The trailer shows off numerous examples of how Aaru’s teleporting skill works, and how smartly using it will help players navigate Aaru through many difficult obstacles.

Aaru's Awakening

The Night Domain

Aaru’s Awakening is a game broken up into four domains: dawn, day, dusk and night. The game takes place in Lumenox – there exists a balance between dawn, day, dusk and night. Each realm has its own diety. The Night deity threatens the balance between the four domains, so the Dawn deity summons Aaru.

The game is currently available for pre-order through the official Lumenox Games website. The developer is also working on getting the game on Steam working through the Steam Greenlight program. Those interested can vote for Aaru’s Awakening on its Greenlight page.

Aaru’s Awakening will be available for PC and Mac in early 2014. The trailer for the game can be viewed below.

Quick Take

Aaru’s Awakening was a delightful surprise at last year’s PAX Prime. It has such a detailed art style and interesting platforming mechanics. While the PAX demo has a learning curve for the teleporting mechanic, once you got the hang of it, it is a compelling and satisfying platforming experience.

What the trailer does best is give a good idea of how dynamic the teleporting ability is. It will be exciting to see how difficult and tricky things will get once the full game comes out later this year. Aaru’s Awakening is a game to keep an eye out for.
