Logitech G600

The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is quite simply the mouse that intimidates all noobs, scares away the typical gamer, but leaves the hardcore MMO player salivating. This highly configurable mouse is specifically designed with Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG) in mind. There are a whopping 20 MMORPG-specific buttons on the mouse, including twelve specifically designed to be controlled by a thumb. In a nutshell, if you play any sort of MMO and want a high quality built mouse, the Logitech G600 mouse is the one to buy.

Features

The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse comes with 20 buttons that are customizable and easy to use. There are three primary buttons, twelve thumb buttons, a clickable (left, right and down) scroll wheel as well as DPI and profile switching buttons on the top of the mouse. The thumb panel is designed in a way that your muscle movement will become memory and it will be easy to discern between the twelve buttons that are typically mapped to the number keys on your keyboard. The thumb panel also lights up and can be configured with specific colors should users want to do that. Best of all, the Logitech G600 does not require drivers; just plug and play to any Windows 7 machine.

Cost Value

The mouse certainly isn’t cheap, with an MSRP of $79.99 and an Amazon price just under that. The old adage, “You get what you pay for” certainly is true with the Logitech G600, because this is a well built, well performing peripheral. Given that it works right out of the box, a downloadable software set is available if gamers feel like tweaking and customizing what has already been preset. Right away, gamers will be just fine playing the major MMOs, specifically World of WarCraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic. As compared to the competition, other high-end manufacturers are charging mice within and around 10 percent of the cost of this one, so it is competitively priced.

Installation

This is going to be very short. Plug it in, wait about 60 seconds. It works. Go play.

Logitech G600 Review

The grip of the Logitech G600 is nice, as this reviewer has a little larger-than-normal hands and most mice feel small. This one fit just fine and the glide was very nice, as experienced on the X-Trac Ripper XXL. Diving into World of WarCraft, the mouse required no real attention at all and simply worked right away. Most of the time you’ll spend thinking about the mouse is simply adjusting to using the thumb buttons as opposed to hacking away at the number keys on a keyboard. Within the game, it will take some adjusting to get used to being much more nimble with a thumb. However, once that thumb becomes accustomed and a quick remap of your abilities is done, the experience will be quite rewarding. While some might find it, understandably, a bit too much to handle, hardcore MMO players should really enjoy the experience the Logitech G600 has to offer. In WoW, this reviewer simply said, “I have never World of WarCrafted better than with this mouse!” and that remains true.

Getting outside of MMO play, the Logitech G600 mouse works fantastic for general Windows 7 usage. The mouse itself has a sensitivity button so users can play with the DPI until they get the setting just right. The overall glide of the mouse and its ability to perform well outside of games and in general computer usage, or even in applications like Adobe Photoshop, is impressive.

Editor's Choice Award

Editor’s Choice Award

The Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse is a very impressive gaming peripheral perfectly suited to hardcore MMO gamers. While the extra buttons might be useless for most gamers, it is the must-have mouse of choice for those that play MMORPG games on a regular basis and want something that performs amazingly well for general usage as well as other games. The price value is acceptable; although slightly priced above the competition, it does represent a good value once build quality and performance are weighed into the equation. The Logitech M600 represents a great leap in the MMO gaming experience, and is the recipient of an Editor’s Choice award.
