Limbo will be released for PlayStation Vita June 4, Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti announced via the official PlayStation blog.
The popular indie title will also release for PS Vita in European markets June 5.
Developer Playdead worked with Double Eleven in bringing Limbo to PS Vita. Double Eleven previously worked on the handheld version of another popular game with LittleBigPlanet Vita.
[adsense250itp]Limbo is a 2D puzzle platformer known for its monochromatic art style. The game uses black and white tones while lighting and other effects add to Limbo’s visual style.
Playdead first released Limbo exclusively on Xbox 360 via Xbox Live in 2010. The game won several awards from critics and was the third most sold game on the Xbox Live Arcade in 2010.
After a one year exclusive release for Xbox 360, Limbo launched on PlayStation 3 and PC. The game was also released for Linux. The PC version of the game was reviewed on Gaming Illustrated by Mike Zrimsek and can be read here.
Despite coming to the PS Vita, Limbo will not take full advantage of the mobile console’s unique features. The game will not use the cross-play ability to work with the PS3 version of the game. It also will not use any of the Vita’s touchscreen technology.
Limbo will be priced at $14.99 when it launches for PS Vita June 4.
