Legends of Aethereus Closed Beta Begins
Following its successful Kickstarter, Swedish developer ThreeGates has announced that its ambitious new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Legends of Aethereusis has entered its closed beta phase. ThreeGates is capitalizing on this by now taking pre-orders for the final version of the game. The only version available thus far is for Windows but Mac and Linux versions of the game are planned.
ThreeGates has adopted a pre-order model almost similar to that of Minecraft, allowing gamers to take part in the beta as it is developed. So far, this is something that has been enjoyed by backers who donated more than $40 to the Kickstarter. They earned early access to the closed beta for their contribution as well as other rewards.
The game will include an innovative physics based combat system and an extensive item crafting system. Players will also be given their own city that can be designed using an huge set of customization features allowing them to make their own statues and banners among other things. Other players can be invited to fight in its arena or allowed to explore the city so that they can see how it looks.
“We’ve looked at the Minecraft model pretty closely and really respect how Notch [Johnson] and the [Minecraft] team rolled out that game,” Don Geyer, the CEO of ThreeGates said. “We’ve spent years developing Legends of Aethereus and we are committed to creating an action RPG that’s not like any other game.”
ThreeGates is going all out to make a memorable MMORPG. Though still in its infancy it’s already promising to be a spectacular game that will undoubtedly grow as development on it picks up.
