League of Legends Season 3 World Championship Quarterfinals Day 2

/ Sep 25th, 2013 No Comments

[adsense250itp]The remaining four teams play out their matches for Day 2 of the Quarterfinals of the League of Legends Season 3 World Championship.

The first matchup was South East Asia’s Gamania Bears against Korea’s SK Telecom T1. Not much was known about Gamania Bears, but SK Telecom T1 came in warmed up from group stages. SK Telcom T1’s top laner, Impact, made a literal impact on that game on Renekton, and Jungler Bengi’s Vi got the first game. The second game, Mid Laner Faker played Lissandra with precision and destroyed his counterpart, Gamania Bears’ Maple on Ahri. SK Telecom T1 sweep the match and move onto the Semifinals to face off against Najin Black Sword for a Korea vs Korea Semifinals match.

In a bittersweet moment, the friendly rivals of OMG and Royal Club shake hands and exchange words as Royal Club took the match victory, knocking out their fellow Chinese team.

The second matchup puts two Chinese teams against each other. OMG takes on Royal Club, and the first game is a dead heat, a very close game with both teams getting small advantages back and forth. In the end, Royal Club decides to take Baron Nashor while OMG’s Top Laner Gogoing took an inhibitor from Royal Club’s base. However, Royal Club pushed up the inhibitor-less lane with the Baron buff, and took down OMG’s Inhibitor, taking down members of OMG on the way. Royal Club eventually brute forced the base and took game 1. Game 2, Royal Club brute forced fights again, with a team composition with very little CC and massive amounts of damage dealers. Royal Club’s star AD Player, Uzi, dominated the team fights as Vayne, and with the amount of aggression they pulled off on OMG, pressured down their base and took the second game, sweeping the match against their fellow Chinese team.

With the Quarterfinals done, SK Telecom T1 faces fellow Korean team Najin Black Sword, and Royal Club matchesup against Europe’s Fnatic. The Semifinals start on Friday, Sep. 27th, with the Korean faceoff at the USC Galen Center.

Quick Take

All teams played very well, but two strong teams pulled through to the Semifinals on this day, and now the first Semifinals match is filled with Korean hype. Definitely going to be exciting.
