This article will continue the analysis of the League of Legends (LoL) Season 2 World Championship Teams. Last week we saw how Chinese teams Invictus Gaming, Team WorldElite, and Taiwanese team Taipei Assassins conquered their foes to qualify for the World Championship. This week we’ll see how the Korean teams Azubu Frost, NaJin Sword and Vietnamese team Saigon Jokers cut down the competition to place in the World Championship.
To see last week’s breakdown check out our piece on the Chinese and Tainwanese teams!
Azubu Frost
NaJin Sword
NaJin Sword took the Korean regionals by storm, by knocking out Azubu Frost’s sister team Azubu Blaze. NaJin Sword’s roster consists of captain and top laner Yoon “MaknooN” Ha-oon, mid laner Kim “SSONG” Sung-soo, jungler Cho “watch” Jae-geol, support Jang “Cain” Nu-ruh and AD carry Kim “PraY Jong-in. NaJin Sword is a relatively new team, being just over 4 months old. However with a former Brood War pro (watch) in their ranks, they definitely have the competitive spirit needed to do well at a huge tournament. However, Azubu Frost may be looking for revenge after NaJin Sword knocked out Blaze at the Korean regionals. If Azubu Frost and NaJin Sword meet at the Championship, it is sure to be a great game.
Saigon Jokers
Saigon Jokers seemingly came out of nowhere at the South East Asia finals. They took the tournament from the popular Singapore team “Singapore Sentinels”. Saigon Jokers consists of captain and support Tran Huu “Junie” Nhut Minh, mid laner Mai “NIXWATER” Nhat Tan, jungler Ngo “Violet” Manh Quyen, AD carry Tran “Archie” Minh Nhut and top laner Nguyen Tran “QTV” Tuong Vu. Saigon Jokers are only slightly older than Korean team NaJin Sword, being formed back in April of this year. They have not made that many tournament appearances, however they were able to beat Singapore Sentinels at the regionals. Saigon Jokers may surprise the world and beat all of the powerhouse teams this October.
There you have it, all 12 of the teams competing in the Season 2 World Championship this October. The playoff series is set to take place October 4th, 5th and 6th, and the finals are scheduled on October 13th. With 12 amazing teams in attendance, the entire event is sure to go down in ESports history as one of the most exciting League of Legends tournaments to date.
