Knack 2 will release on Sept. 5 for $39.99, Sony announced ahead of its PlayStation E3 2017 press conference.
Sony officially announced Knack 2 at the PlayStation Experience in December 2016. A trailer for the game featured Knack fighting enemies in new worlds but also focused on two player cooperative gameplay. In the sequel two players will control separate Knacks and use an enhanced moveset to fight new enemies in new environments.
Knack originally launched in November 2013 as a launch title for the PlayStation 4. Mary Cerny, one of the architects behind the PS4, was heavily involved in the creation of Knack. Like many console launch games, Knack received middling reviews while still showing off the PS4’s capabilities to handle massive amounts of particle physics.
The sequel was rumored, expected, and joked about for several years. Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida said the game was for players both young and young at heart. With promises of better gameplay, it’s up to Sony to prove that Knack deserves a place among the company’s iconic series.
