Killzone: Shadow Fall

Sony reported that Killzone Shadow Fall has sold more than 2.1 million copies globally.

The PlayStation 4-exclusive launch title’s success is being labeled as a “great contribution to the expansion of the PS4 platform” by the company.

“I am thrilled that so many users have been enjoying Killzone Shadow Fall since the launch of PS4,” said Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. “This title fully embraces the creativity of the development team at Guerrilla Games based in the Netherlands, and is a great representation of what SCE WWS has to offer.”

[adsense250itp]Yoshida went on to promise that the studio would continue to provide more exciting titles like Shadow Fall that would offer games and entertainment experiences that can only be achieved on PS4. He named upcoming games Driveclub, inFAMOUS: Second Son and The Order: 1886 as examples of the more than 30 games under development by Sony’s studios.

Killzone Shadow Fall is the sixth game in the Killzone series, which began in 2004 with the release of the aptly-named Killzone for PlayStation 2. The series is known for its action-packed gameplay using a traditional first-person shooter format and a strong, dynamic science-fiction story.

The game takes place directly after the events of Killzone 3 and centers around the struggle against a terrorist group known as Black Hand. They seeks to destroy Planet Vekta in retribution for the loss of their planet, which was rendered uninhabitable in the last game. Playing as intelligence officer Lucas Kellan, players must fight against Helghan troops utilizing force and stealth to do so.

Shadow Fall is the first PS4 title to sell at least a million copies since the console’s launch last year and it continues to gain positive reception. The game continues to receive updates to its single and multiplayer modes. Two free multiplayer maps are under development at Guerrilla Games and a release date for both is expected to be announced soon.
