Nighthawk Interactive announced today that it is bringing Liquid Bit and BumbleBear Games’ highly anticipated, Killer Queen Black to retail this summer on Nintendo Switch. It will also release a physical version for Xbox One this fall. Both versions will retail for $29.99.
Killer Queen Black brings the arcade esport phenomenon, Killer Queen to the home with a fitting 16-bit makeover and a soundtrack inspired by 80’s metal. Like its arcade inspiration Killer Queen Black pits 2 teams against each other.
The blue and gold teams will need to work together by utilizing their Queen and 3 Workers to bring glory to their hive! Victory is hard won, but with 3 paths to victory there are a variety of ways to demonstrate hive dominance.

It doesn’t matter how you choose to win on the game’s six different maps. Whether you choose to be uber aggressive and achieve a Military victory by having your queen take out the other team’s queen, or have your workers bring berries back to your hive for an Economic victory, or be weird and ride a slow moving snail to a goal for a Snail Victory.
Players have a few ways to play with the game’s 3 game modes. Quick Match gives a fast and easy option for players looking for a more casual game, while Ranked is for those looking to get more competitive. Custom Games offer a way to play privately with friends or AI.
Speaking of competition, Killer Queen Black introduces the new Black team. The Black team is the best of the best exemplified by their special, glowing black outfits. Any team good enough to beat the reigning Black team will take their place both in vestments and on the stream.

The competition for the mantle of Black team will take place on a constant stream with anyone unsetting the current Black team taking their place in the stream. The persistent stream will give others an opportunity to see top-notch gameplay and keep people wondering who will achieve the coveted Black team position.
Complete cross-platform functionality between PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch means getting 2 teams of four together to compete should be fast and easy. It also means that rising to the rank of Black Team will be that much tougher.
A special bonus for pre-orders of the retail editions of Killer Queen Black are exclusive themed controller skins for both Xbox One wireless controllers and Nintendo Joy-Cons. The vinyl skins made by 3M are easy to apply and remove from your controllers. Plus, they let you show off your dedication to the hive!

Killer Queen Black is available for pre-order now at Amazon (Switch, Xbox One), GameStop (Switch, Xbox One), Best Buy (Switch, Xbox One), and coming soon to Target. It will retail for $29.99 for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
Our Take
Killer Queen is a modern arcade classic, but Killer Queen Black takes that frenetic arcade action home. We played it at PAX West and it was so much fun. It is destined to be a new multiplayer obsession, and now fans have the opportunity to pick up a physical copy of the game when it launches this summer on Nintendo Switch and in the fall on Xbox One.
