Killer Instinct Season 3 Announced

Killer Instinct Season 3

Microsoft officially announced a third season of content for its popular its 2013 fighting game Killer Instinct. Killer Instinct Season 3 will be released March 2016 for Xbox One and the upcoming PC version.

As with previous seasons, new stages and fighters will be added. The only new character officially announced so far is Rash, a character from the Rare beat ’em up Battletoads.

A beta version of Rash is currently available as a preview for the upcoming new season. The ability to use Rash is only available to players who also own Rare Replay and those who purchased previously released DLC for the game. The beta version of the character will be playable until Sep. 8.

The character’s moveset and abilities can be seen in a trailer that debuted alongside the announcement, which also explains how Rash came to be in the Killer Instinct universe. The trailer’s ending shows a brief glimpse of familiar nunchucks wielded by Kim Wu, a fighter from Killer Instinct 2, indicating she’ll also be a new playable character.

The trailer for Killer Instinct 3 featuring Rash from Battletoads can be viewed below.

Quick Take

The inclusion of one of the Battletoads is a delightful surprise given how the series has remained in suspended animation for a while now. It’s also plainly obvious Kim Wu will join the cast too. Given her blatant return, it’s highly likely Tusk, an ally and popular fighter from Killer Instinct 2, will appear as well. Season 3 appears to be the Killer Instinct DLC we’ve all been waiting for.
