Port Royale 4

Kalypso has taken over complete ownership of Gaming Minds Studios, the developer behind Port Royale 4, the company announced in a press release.

According to the announcement publisher Kalypso Media Group GmbH now owns 100 percent shares of Gaming Minds Studios. Previously, Kalypso owned 60 percent shares of the developer, and helped publish several titles, including Patrician IV, Port Royale 3,Grand Ages: Medieval and Railway Empire.

As part of the takeover, Daniel Dumont and Kay Struve will remain in place as Studio Heads of Gaming Minds Studios.

“The complete takeover of Gaming Minds is a logical result of our strategy to expand our own development resources not only in Germany, but also internationally” says Simon Hellwig, owner and Global Managing Director of Kalypso Media.

“We are offering the highly qualified and motivated team in Gütersloh the opportunity to focus exclusively on the further development of exciting franchises such as Railway Empire and Port Royale and to establish their own engine even more strongly within the rest of the Kalypso Media Group.”

Port Royale 4 is currently in development and expected to be released this fall for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and in the first quarter of 2021 for Nintendo Switch. A beta version can be played now on PC via the Kalypso Store.
