Jeremy McGrath To Donate Game Proceeds to Bethematch.org
Last week, Jeremy McGrath announced that his wife Kim, who had been diagnosed with leukemia, had found a match for a much needed bone marrow transplant thanks to the efforts of BeTheMatch.org. McGrath will be donating his portion of the download profits from Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad. The game is available now on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
Two years ago Kim McGrath survived breast cancer only to be diagnosed with leukemia in May of this year. After quickly taking action, Kim immediately underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, tolerating month long stays in hospital. Meanwhile, Jeremy was taking the lead on close to 40 marrow drives and fundraisers, which raised over a quarter of a million dollars and tested more than 4,000 people for possible inclusion into the registry.
“First, thank you again to everyone who has helped, donated, gotten tested and sent well-wishes to our family. Your responses to my initial call to action have been incredible and the support and love just seems to continue to pour in,” Jeremy said. “The fact that Kim found a match is really great news for us, but it is our hope that people will still get tested and join the Be the Match Registry. I would also ask that companies that have charitable donation programs and those in the position to do something, please think about making a donation to Be The Match at any time throughout the year. This organization provides a service that literally saves lives every day of the year…it’s pretty amazing.”
To show his appreciation and to raise funds and awareness for Be The Match, Jeremy has vowed to donate all of his cut from the digital download profits of Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad, which released on June 27 on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. If you wish to support the cause, the game is available for purchase for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points.
From the team at Gaming Illustrated we wish Kim and Jeremy all the best.
Well-wishes can be sent straight to Kim via the TEAM KIM Facebook page. More information about Be The Match can be found at BETHEMATCH.ORG. Information about Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad can be found at raceoffroad.com.
