Is Harmonix Getting the Band Back Together?

On Jan. 13, Harmonix released Rock Band DLC for the first time since April 2, 2013. This “brief hiatus” was just more than 21 months long.
Harmonix released three new tracks, including music from Avenged Sevenfold, Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys. It is the first time an Arctic Monkeys is available in Rock Band.
Fresh off of the release of the new Rock Band DLC, Harmonix released a three-page survey requesting feedback on player’s Rock Band experiences. The survey includes questions that investigate which Rock Band games players prefer. However, things get personal on the second page with questions like “At your peak, how often did you play Rock Band?” and “What functional Rock Band instruments do you currently own?”
Then, the survey hints at the possibility of future Rock Band titles. It asks readers to rank a list of Rock Band features in order of importance, and asks survey-takers what platforms they currently own and “Would you be inclined to preorder a new Rock Band title?”
It is exciting to see that Rock Band 4 may come sooner than believed. The possibility of a Rock Band 3 release on new-gen consoles might keep gamers content until Rock Band 4 is announced, especially if more DLC is on the way. A rehash of Rock Band 3 would be mildly disappointing, however, it can be assumed that compatibility of existing hardware would be widely accepted.
