NIS America announced that they will be bringing Hyperdimension Neptunia PP for the PlayStation Vita to North American and European gamers in 2014.
Hyperdimension Neptunia PP is being developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart, the latter of which is also responsible for the Mugen Souls series including the recently announced Mugen Souls Z. The game is being planned for release on both retail and PSN formats.
[adsense250itp]The Hyperdimension Neptunia series currently consists of three titles that have been released on the PlayStation 3 by NIS America. The most recent entry, Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, was released earlier this year. The setting of the Neptunia series is a world called Gamindustri. Gamindustri is ruled by four CPU goddesses named Neptune, Noire, Blanc and Vert. These four goddesses represent actual video game consoles (i.e. the PlayStation, Xbox, Wii, and Sega’s unreleased successor to the Dreamcast called the Neptune). While the series pokes fun at the actual “console wars” which exist between fans of individual systems, it never takes itself too seriously and contains several in-jokes for long time fans of the gaming industry.
Where previous Neptunia games were complex RPGs, Hyperdimension Neptunia PP looks to be taking the series in a completely different direction. In the game, players will take on the role of the main character who falls into Gamindustri and is hired by one of the four CPU goddesses to be their producer and take over managing duties for their idol careers. Players will teach the girls to sing, dance and promote themselves to win over the hearts of Gamindustri’s citizens. After all, the fate of the world hangs in the balance and they don’t want to lose to rival group MOB-48. As the player helps the girls in their rise to fame, they will be able to join each other in duets or even full-on ensembles.
Currently, Hyperdimension Neptunia PP is the working title for the game so it might change before release. Without a doubt, it is quite different from the RPG Neptunia games that many players are used to. But the CPU goddesses proved to be quite endearing as the series went on. Who knows what to expect from this idol simulation when it releases next year.
