Game Freak Teases “Hype” for Pokemon in 2018

In a simple new year’s message to fans left on the Japanese publication Weekly Famitsu, Pokemon developer Game Freak may have teased that a Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch will release in 2018.
Kazumasa Iwao, a designer at Game Freak, said in the statement:
“Happy New Year. In 2017 we were able to release Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, and we express our deep gratitude to everyone who has been playing it. In 2018 we will still continue to hype up Pokemon, so please look forward to it.”
This is hardly confirmation that a Pokemon game will be released for Switch in 2018, so you can read into all you want.
Game Freak announced it is working on a new Pokemon game for the Switch during Nintendo’s E3 2017 Spotlight presentation. The game is said to be a “core” Pokemon RPG, which doesn’t necessarily eliminate the chance that it is a potential port of Pokemon Sun and Moon but certainly makes it seem otherwise.
As part of a financial report, Nintendo listed the new Pokemon RPG for Switch for a “2018 or later” release. No updates have been announced, but there may be more definitive answers to come with a potential Nintendo Direct rumored to take place in January.
