You can’t run forever, but what can you do when you can’t go home?

Indie developer, Beautifun Games, announced a PC version of their successful iOS game Nihilumbra. Fans and critics both have demanded a PC port for Steam, thus Beautifun Games have responded to this call. The PC Nihilumbra will feature improvements and enhancement in the form of HD graphics and a fully remastered soundtrack. Not only will it feature HD graphics, but new features exclusively for the PC and some new minigames on top of the addictive original story mode and the challenging “Void Mode”. Gaming Illustrated ran a review of Nihilumbra back in August and it received an Editor’s Choice award.

Here is Beautifun’s synopsis of Nihilumbra:

Nihilumbra is a dark, atmospheric 2D puzzle platform game

boasting hand painted dark environments, nightmarish monsters,

and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. It tells a story that really

panders to the existential dread lurking within us all.

The only catch before Nihilumbra can be available on Steam is that it needs sufficient votes as part of the Steam Greenlight project. Beautifun has released a new promo video here to promote the game. For anyone unaware, Steam Greenlight is a new community program from Steam that allows users to vote on games (in various stages of development) that they want to see on Steam. It gives developers a means to get attention for their game and the resources via Steam to distribute their game smartly and widely. This is a fundamental change to Steam’s submission process changing from a small team who decided what games get released on the service to community members voting for what games they want to see and purchase on Steam. While there is no exact number of votes necessary for games to be Greenlit, it has other factors like which games have more interest shown in them than others posted on Greenlight. The exact matrices that get a game Greenlit are a bit indistinct, but votes seems to be the easiest way to get a game on Steam through Greenlight. Thus, anyone who wants to play a PC version of Nihilumbra should head over to its Greenlight page (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92974004&searchtext=nihilumbra) and vote for the game. Those interested will need a Steam account, so if you do  not already have one, spend a few minutes to create one and vote for this wonderful game. Help get Beautifun Games’ Nihilumbra on Steam and support indie gaming.
