Rockstar Games provided details on the upcoming updates coming to Grand Theft Auto Online this spring.
GTA Online‘s spring updates will include Capture Creator, The High Life Update and Heists.
With Heists, players will be able to team up with Crew members or random mercenaries to engage in co-op heist missions.
Capture Creator will allow the creator community in GTA Online to make original capture jobs. Customized capture jobs will join the more than 3.5 million user-generated deathmatches and races available on Social Club. Capture creator gives users the ability to define weaponry, place pick-ups, set location and tweak other elements. Rockstar will review user creations and outstanding capture jobs will receive the Rockstar-verified stamp.
The High Life Update will give players the ability to expand their base in Los Santos with new high-end apartment options, the Bullpup Rifles and new wardrobe items. In addition, the update will add the Dinka Thrust motorcycle and three new fancy cars including the Pegassi Zentorno.
Debuting in the update is multi-property ownership. This allows players to own two distinct properties with garages at once. The update also introduces the new Mental State player statistic, which shows how passive or unhinged fellow players in a session are. The High Life Update also adds new jobs.
Rockstar has listened to fan feedback to improve the GTA Online experience. In response to fans, a patch that fixed the way bikes and motorcycles handled in the air is getting reversed to the original setting. This will allow players to pull off stunts made impossible by the update.
In upcoming updates, players will be able to turn on a “non-contact” option for races to prevent collision between vehicles. Players will be able to call Lester to have cops turn a blind eye to crimes for a short period of time. RP will be granted to players who leave feedback on jobs. When less than four players complete Parachute, Races, Deathmatches and LTS jobs, payouts will increase.
Later in the year GTA Online will receive more updates including holiday-themed ones and Grand Theft Auto V will receive Story Mode DLC.
While the GTA Online experience mileage may vary widely for those who bought GTA 5, it is nice to see continual updates and tweaks for those who find it a meaningful experience.
Heists were the most dynamic experience in GTA V, so the lack of inclusion in GTA Online’s launch was a disappointment. Whether these online heist missions are as compelling as the main game’s heists remains to be seen.
