GTA Online Independence Day Special Available Now

/ Jul 2nd, 2014 No Comments

GTA Online

Rockstar Games is giving players a reason to jump into GTA Online this week. The Independence Day Special DLC is now available to download on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

GTA Online players will have access to several new items and features with this seasonal content. Decked out with Red, White and Blue pride are the Sovereign motorcycle and Liberator monster truck. Since the Independence Day Special is sponsored by Ammu-Nation, the gun store has opened up their antiques collection and made the Musket available. The Firework Rocket Launcher also adds some extra flair to the chaos.

What would Independence Day be without fireworks and your own yard to set them off in? Seven new properties are available for purchase including locations in Vinewood Hills and Paleto Bay. 12 different varieties of fireworks are available with different fuse lengths, allowing players the opportunity to create their own fantastic display.

The Independence Day Special will be available until sometime in mid-July. Included with the update are gameplay adjustments and the new On Call Matchmaking function. This will allow players to accept a Job invite and continue their Freemode play until the Job is populated. The full list of fixes is available on Rockstar‘s support website.

A celebratory four-day Independence Day Weekend Event will be announced by Rockstar shortly.

Quick Take

The trickle of updates Rockstar has made to GTA Online is a great way to keep players invested in the massive vision of Grand Theft Auto 5. However, the biggest feature still missing is online heists. With the game nearing a full year of release, it’s a bit disappointing. Hopefully an announcement will be made soon along with news of a release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
