GTA 5 Release

The GTA 5 release is nearly upon us, set to drop on September 17th, 2013. The newest edition of one of the most popular gaming franchises on the planet, the GTA 5 release means a return to San Andreas, a return to ridiculously over-the-top storylines, and the kind of semi-villainous protagonists you hate to love.

Next Gen Console Rumors for the GTA 5 Release

Rumors have been flying around about whether or not the next generation of consoles will get a GTA 5 release. Recently, Danish retailer Coolshop even put up a pre-order page for a retail edition of a GTA 5 release for the XBox One, the newly announced Microsoft console. Whether or not they’ve leaked some exciting news, or are just jumping the gun in excitement, only Bill Gates can tell. However, it’s not a difficult logic jump to assume that the most popular game series in the world, the one that comes out the same year as three Next Gen consoles, might see a release there.

There’s been no concrete evidence of a GTA 5 release for the PS4, but considering the PC-like architecture of both next gen consoles, the ease of developing for both consoles could indicate a release across all consoles.

A new demo has popped up displaying an arrange of “special abilities” for each of the three main protagonists, adding another layer of excitement to the feverish glow surrounding the GTA 5 release. Trevor, also know as “the crazy balding dude,” can fly into a berserker rage, where he takes less damage and deals out more. Slick and successful protagonist Michael cribs a page from Max Payne’s playbook, and can slow down time to make gunplay easier. Young Trevor has a similar power, but it applies for driving instead of shooting.

Rockstar hasn’t been shy about dishing out details for the GTA 5 release, including all the special editions that usually come with the release of a Triple-A game of that caliber. If you pick up the Collectors Edition, definitely available for XBOX 360 and PS3, you’ll receive a physical “Blueprint” map of the entire in-game city and surrounding areas. For all you code junkies out there, you’ll also be able to boost your special ability bar, get a wider selection of weapons, tattoos, clothing options, custom multiplayer characters, vehicles, and aerial challenges. You’ll even get better deals from shopkeepers. Along with a “New Era” cap, the entire collection comes complete in a “Steelbook” case and a tote bag for the lot. And if you pre-order the standard edition, you’ll even get to download the “Atomic Blimp” vehicle, which will allow you to soar over the skies of San Andreas like Doctor Impossible on a bender.

Rockstar has also announced a Special Edition, which is essentially a pared down version of the Collector’s Edition.
