GTA 5 Official Cover Coming This Month
When Rockstar Games revealed “Pest Control” as the first piece of official artwork for GTA 5, many gamers wondered if it would be representative of the art style used in the game’s final cover. It looks like fans won’t have to wait much longer because Rockstar will unveil GTA 5′s official cover later this month. Over the weekend the company announced on their website that the official cover was going to be revealed later in January along with additional artwork coming soon as well.
Ever since a spring release of 2013 was confirmed for GTA 5, gamers have been given a steady flow of information by various industry outlets. This has been a nice contrast to the year long gap between the game’s first and second trailers. The second GTA 5 trailer, along with an enormous cover story from Game Informer, finally broke the silence.
If Rockstar follows the motif they have used in previous Grand Theft Auto covers, then players should expect a decent amount of guns, girls, and vehicles on GTA 5′s cover. The artwork that has already been released such as “Pest Control”, “The Trunk” (as seen above), and “Stop and Frisk” (as seen below) not only show off those familiar elements but show off the art style GTA 5 will be using. So far, many of the pieces of art have focused on Michael, Trevor, and Franklin–the three playable characters.
In addition to the announcement of the reveal of the official cover, Rockstar also made any previously released pieces of art, like the ones seen in previews and at game stores, available for download as desktops, Facebook covers, buddy icons, and as Rockstar Social Club avatars. While no other release date information has been set in stone aside from the spring 2013 window, rumors have been circulating that a mid to late March for GTA 5 could happen. Still, nothing is official until Rockstar makes an announcement.
Currently, the game is scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version has not been formally announced and fans have started a petition urging Rockstar to bring it to computers. Even Gaming Illustrated suggests that the game could have some sort of future on the PS Vita as well. Before the cover is revealed, what do you hope to see on it?
