GTA 5: How to Steal a Fighter Jet

/ Oct 22nd, 2013 No Comments

The P-996 Lazer is one of the best vehicles in GTA 5, but it can be a chore to get your hands on one. It is not only fast, but comes packed with a powerful cannon that tears through most everything and missiles that lock on to other vehicles. Read on for some helpful tips to get into the cockpit and take control of of an incredible fighter jet.

The easiest way to steal a fighter jet is to drive to Fort Zancudo with Franklin. Take a car with good acceleration and cornering capabilities. Build up speed and activate his special ability before you smash through the barricade and take the first right turn. Take a left after the fenced parking lot and then a right as soon as the street ends at the hangars. There will be a few covered jets on the right side. Make sure to completely stop before getting out, as falling out of the car leaves Franklin as an open target and wastes time. Hop in as fast as you can and stay low to avoid being shot down by missiles. As soon as you’re out of the base, fly as high as you can to evade any pursuing jets and helicopters.

Each P-996 comes equipped with a killswitch. Flying around for too long will trigger the switch and shut off the engines. The best way to get around this is to store the jet in a hangar. Extra care must be given, as the Lazer is very fragile. Any damage to the landing gear on the runway could prevent the plane from making it into the hangar. As soon as the jet is placed safely inside, it can be retrieved by the character who stored it there. This means an endless supply of jets without having to jump through hoops.
