GTA 5 Gameplay Debuts

GTA 5 Gameplay

GTA 5 gameplay was shown for the first time in a new trailer released by Rockstar on the company’s official website.

The five-minute-long trailer is a narrated guide through the world of Grand Theft Auto 5 and features locations, gameplay mechanics and recreational activities that can be performed in the game.

In GTA 5, heists will be a major part of the game. Players will be able to scale large buildings as Michael, then switch to Franklin with the press of a button to snipe down opponents from a location far away. Gamers will be able to switch weapons quickly using a seamless weapon wheel in the mold of Red Dead Redemption.

Heists will be planned directly by gamers then executed in a series of events using all three playable characters. Players can also choose to go in with guns smoking, although that is not recommended. An instance used in the trailer shows the characters utilizing gas to knock out the employees of a jewelry store before making their entrance.

While gunplay and driving mechanics have been greatly improved, Rockstar has worked to upgrade gameplay all the way around, including during mini-game recreational activities and free roaming.

The three playable characters will be living their lives even when not being used by gamers. Switching to one during open-world roaming will drop players into what they are doing, whether that’s stopping by the medical marijuana dispensary or running from the cops.

In-game money can be used to customize playable characters with tattoos and clothes or even be spent on the fastest vehicles. Cars will be fully customized using garages throughout Los Santos. Players can also invest in real estate and stock. Transactions can be made via the in-game Internet, which appears to be much larger than in Grand Theft Auto 4.

Animals will roam Los Santos and its surrounding regions. Hunting is also one of the recreational activities playable character Trevor can perform. Additionally, golf, scuba diving and biking will be available for players to partake in.

Throughout the trailer, real-life Los Angeles landmarks can be seen in their Los Santos form. Virtual versions of The Figueroa Hotel, Venice Beach and Chinese Theater all appear along with the shops of Beverly Hills and sprawling, untouched wilderness.

The trailer ends with a brief look at Grand Theft Auto Online, which is the game’s multiplayer aspect. Multiplayer will feature huge open-world maps complete with jets and helicopters.
