Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer “Michael. Franklin. Trevor.” was unveiled by Rockstar Games today. The trailers debuted new story details and hints of gameplay for the highly anticipated open world game.
When the first Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer arrived in November of 2011, it gave gamers a very small taste of what was to come. Though the trailer was full of narration and visuals, it lacked any taste of gameplay. Nearly a year later, the second Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer was released on the heels of an enormous media blowout that revealed new information about the game and one enormous detail: GTA 5 would feature three playable characters.
The Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer for Michael opens with the former criminal in a therapy session. Michael is disillusioned with his life; he wants a nice family life but also misses the life of crime. While dealing with an unfaithful wife and kids that don’t respect him, Michael’s therapist claims he is addicted to chaos. The rest of the trailer almost confirms that claim as Michael unleashes his violent side on people and property.
Franklin’s story is very reminiscent of the gang motif of GTA: San Andreas. Franklin gives the impression that he wants to escape the gangbanger lifestyle he has dealt with for most of his life. Franklin’s Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer shows the grittier and violent side of Los Santos full of police, strippers and gang shootings. The third Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer is packed with the unhinged and crazy actions of Trevor. Trevor is a foul-mouthed drug dealer who howls at the moon, attacks old people, blows stuff up and crashes almost every vehicle he touches. Trevor and Michael have been associated in the past and Trevor is the one who helps draw Michael back into a life of crime.
Each new Grand Theft Auto 5 trailer is accompanied by a song and vibe that appropriately matches each of the playable characters from the game. The trailers give players a good idea of what to expect when diving into the story and world of Grand Theft Auto 5. No concrete gameplay was shown in the trailers but the game certainly does look to push the current generation of hardware to its limits. Rockstar Games has been silent on whether or not Grand Theft Auto 5 will appear on the PS4 or next Xbox. Each Grand Theft Auto 5 Trailer ends with the game’s release date of Sep. 17 and “pre-order now”; no release consoles were shown. However, the game will release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and is highly desired to be on the PC.
