Lychas HS-G550 Foldable Headset Annouced
So many headsets of this quality are close to or above the $150.00 mark, but with a $50.00 asking price, the HS-G550 is both palpable and exciting. Still, there is a bit of a stigma with gaming equipment (all technology, really) that the cheaper it is, the poorer the quality, so to help stem this tide, let’s take a look at what fifty bucks gets you.
The HS-G550 has the standard features expected with gaming headsets, but it highlights them in a newer, more svelte way that could make this product over the top. Some of the perks you can expect are individual ear volume controls, a portable and foldable design with swivel ear cups, and an adjustable headband for universal fit (no man gets left behind in the quest for comfort.) Now you might say, “But Victor, these all sound like normal features, especially the volume control” but as mentioned, Genius has done the fantastic and split the gameplay sounds and communications to individual channels. No halfway, no almost, they are completely separate. This means no more trying to adjust your gaming volume and cracking up your teammates comments and cries instead.
Making the piece compact and flexible means you can take your HS-G550 over to a friend’s lan party or competition without having to drag around a big, bulky headset. You’re also going to get an in-line master volume control and microphone mute function, far away from your ears, which in my opinion is a much better placement. Too many controls on your covers is frustrating, and nine times out of ten, you just end up ruining your settings, generally after you’ve gotten them perfect.
Other tantalizing features included are a rotational, omni-directional microphone and 50mm drivers for big sound and noise isolation. The master line features a durable, anti-corrosive, gold-plated 3.5 mm jack, and you know that sounds cool. With all these perks coming in a affordable package of $49.99, the Lychas HS-G550 gaming headset is obviously looking to be a major contender in gaming headset, however, as always, the gamers and the purchasing habits will be the ultimate judge of that.
