Uncharted: The Drake Collection

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series has proved to be one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises. In March 2016, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will arrive on PlayStation 4 and possibly wrap up Nathan Drake’s long, action-packed story. But what about PS4 owners who never got a chance to dive into the first three games?

On Oct. 9, Sony is releasing Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, a remastered version of Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. To get players ready for the experience, Gaming Illustrated is streaming the game and showing off the gameplay from each title.

Bluepoint Studio has worked with Naughty Dog and Sony to bring a number of improvements to the already impressive and beloved PlayStation 3 titles. All three games are targeting 1080p visuals with 60 frames per second. Lighting, textures, character models, draw distance and more have been improved upon. Bluepoint used over 60 mechanics and improvements and applied them to all three games to unify the entire experience.

A handful of new features are also included with the Collection. A brutal difficulty has been added, which is a new, more punishing difficulty unlocked after beating the games on crushing difficulty. A speed run feature has been added to track gameplay time against friends. An explorer mode has also been added as a new easy mode for beginners where combat difficulty is greatly reduced.

Photo mode, a feature which has been included in several Sony titles, is included in the Collection. New trophies have been added and existing ones have been adjusted. Render modes and 80 bonus skins will allow players to play Uncharted as characters like Elena or Sully and with different visuals. The soundtrack has been remastered from the original  source, allowing for 7.1 surround sound. As an added bonus, access to Uncharted 4’s multiplayer beta taking place December 4-13 is included with purchase of the Collection.
